Sugar Rush is the sequel to Sugar Daddy and can not be read as a stand alone. Sugar Rush picks up right where we were left hanging in book one. WARNING ... This review will contain spoilers to Sugar Daddy.
Sela Halstead’s plan for revenge didn’t go as planned since Beckett “Beck” North was never a part of that plan. When her feelings for him become more than her need to avenge his business partner, Jonathon “JT” Townsend, for raping her ten years ago, she should have stayed on that course but seeing that JT hasn’t changed still left her on her quest.
Beck doesn’t believe her that she was raped by JT at first but after realizing the brutal truth of what happened he will stop at nothing to win her back, protect her and secure the reckoning Sela deserves. I could not put this book down and when I wasn’t reading it I kept thinking about Beck and Sela wondering what was going to happen next. The suspense and mystery is awesome in this book. You know the plans but will they go as expected or will something derail them? There is some great steamy sex scenes in the book, but the actual story is intense and deals with drug use, gambling and rape. The differences in relationships that Sela has with family to what Beck has with family shows how trust plays an important factor. Sela and Beck may only have known each other a short amount of time but the relationship develops at a steady rate. Both have issues from their pasts and are struggling to learn to move forward.
I love the supporting characters of Linda, Caroline and Dennis. Linda just relieves some of the intensity and Caroline and Dennis have stories of their own that I want to know more about but before that I need to know what will happen with Sela and Beck as this book leaves us hanging like the first book does.
