RELEASE BLITZ -- L.L. Collins' RAVENOUS!!

Cover Design: Cassy Roop / Pink Ink Designs
Release Date: April 20, 2017

Synopsis

Raven: To seek, plunder, or prey. To devour ravenously. To seize as spoil. I am Raven. I knew what it meant to fight my way through life. To be the victim, the spoil, the prey. I decided long ago I would take control of my future. No more bug infested couches. No more drug-addicted mothers or absentee fathers. No more welfare checks or moldy bread. No more settling. I thought I had it all figured out, a way out of the hand I’d been dealt. Until my life got turned upside down by two very different men who look at me with mirrored lust in their eyes. Their want is palpable, heady. Their desire makes me reckless. I no longer know who I am or who I want. The only thing I do know is, I am ravenous. Voracious. Intensely eager for gratification or satisfaction. Despite the fact I know it is a disaster waiting to happen, I can’t stop it. I’m afraid I will never be sated.

Amazon/Goodreads Rating:  4/5
In Patti's Imagination Rating:  7/10

Armed only with the knowledge that I have prior positive experiences reading novels by this author and that this was a new series that has no relationship to her other series, I didn’t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Right from the start I was pulled in.
Having a drug addict as a mother, who put her drug habit first, Raven was determined to live a different life.  Raven got into college that was not where she grew up.  Now on the path to reach her goals of breaking the chains of her mother's inadequate parenting, Raven's roommate and BFF introduces her to a new job.  How can such a normal event change her life inso many ways she never expected?
Raven wasn’t always the easiest of characters to like.  She tried to be strong yet at the same time had many insecurities.  She made decisions you cheered at and you jeered at the others.  Then there are the twin brothers, Porter and Breck.  They are like day and night; yet are close even though they have issues.  At times, I felt like more was going to come of things from the past between them and especially with Breck's issues from when he was in the army.  I didn’t feel as if things were fully developed and only hinted at.  The author's developed a cast of characters that were intriguing.  The interaction between the characters seemed plausible and not stiff or corny. The author was able to show a character having issues and her struggle to find ways to overcome these issues.
One thing I found missing from the book that the author is really great at doing, is taking the reader on that winding road of many twists and turns in her plots.  I found too many parts of the book predictable which is partly why I am not able to give it the five stars.  There were other parts of the story that seemed to need a little more development to it and parts not fully explained.  This reader was able to see what was coming next too many times.  The author did a great job of getting you emotionally attached to the characters and keeping you from putting the book down.  The interaction among the different supporting characters was great and I look forward to reading these characters' stories as well.
