This is book 2 of the Raven MC series. It's stated that you can read this as a standalone but I highly suggest you don't attempt that. I read the first book but even I felt lost for a while reading this since I read that several months ago. This is a more intense MC than what Im used to reading. There is a lot of death and one particular scene that made it hard for me to continue reading. I forced myself to push through and am glad I did. I loved how everything played out between Lincoln and Sully. It's pretty sad but I was also rooting for a certain death to happen and the author didn't disappoint. I will say even though I had to push through certain parts I still found this book to be enjoyable. If your used to reading MC that isn't mild then I think you'd love this book.

This book is part of the Monroe series. It's one of those that once you start you don't want to stop. You can read each as a standalone but highly recommend you read them all. In this particular book you get a love triangle. Can exes live together to rebuild a friendship without crossing any lines? We get Vanessa who had dated Cam for a yr but broke up with him. She's all about the games and playing hard to get. She's also very childish in my opinion. Then we have Dani who will go after whatever or whoever she wants with no games and doesn't care what anyone thinks. Van acts like she doesn't want Cam yet doesn't want him with anyone else either. Will Cam ever get tired of dealing with Vanessa and move on or does he force her to be with him? This was a very enjoyable quick read. I probably would of rated it a 5 star if it wasn't for Vanessa. Gosh, I just hate her and her immaturity so much. That's right, I'm a Dani lover and not afraid to admit it. I still wish this ended a lot different than it did but that just has me looking forward to the next book even more.

People say not to believe the things you read
in magazines, but you know what? Most things you’ve heard about me are probably
true.
I totally banged the reporter in the locker
room after the championship game last year.
Those pictures in Expose from last summer?
Those were not modified.
I’m also not really six-foot tall. (But let’s
keep that between us.)
Now, I know you’re wondering about that last
Expose headline—the one about me and my teammate (and ex-best friend) Finn
Miller’s sister, Layla James. That one is a little more complicated.
Here’s the thing: I’ve played football my
whole life. If there’s one thing I know, it’s how to adjust when the game
changes. And if there’s one thing I always do, it’s find a way to win.
Granted, the stakes are higher. The playbook
has changed. There’s more on the line than (another) MVP title. But guess what
hasn’t changed? Me. I’m still Branch “Lucky” Best and I’m not about to fumble
this one.
Grab a seat and a subscription to Expose. I’m
about to make some headlines. (Again.)
A sexy, swoon-filled standalone novel.

Another big hit from Adriana Locke! I read this book in the span of an afternoon, unable to put it down yet scared to finish, knowing that once I did I would have another wait until I could read more of this awesome author. I'm slowly making my way through all the Expose' books and this was by far my favorite. Branch and Layla were some of my favorite characters that I've read this year, and with the added joy of the secondary characters this is on my top books of the year. With a gossip magazine following every move of the hottest football player around, and attempting to catch a scandal Branch knows he needs to keep his best friend's sister far away. The pull is too much though and soon they find themselves embroiled in quite the pickle! Great work, Ms. Locke!

“One
question,” Poppy interjects, looking at Branch. “What position are you?”
“I
typically like the bottom so I can watch—oomph,” he says, getting another elbow
from Finn. “Wide receiver. Why?”
Looking at
Poppy, I can’t help but laugh as her eyes light up.
“You got a
problem with wide receivers?” Branch asks.
“You do,”
Finn interjects, giving me a narrowed glare. “They aren’t any better than
quarterbacks.”
Branch
looks from me, to Finn, and back to me. “Why do we not like quarterbacks?”
“My sister
was dating Callum Worthington.”
“No shit?”
His face puckers like he just bit into a lemon. “How in the hell did that
cocksucker end up with you?”
“He didn’t.
We’re not together anymore.”
Branch’s
eyes heat, the look causing my pulse to quicken. “I’m not a bit sorry to hear
that.”
“You better
forget you heard any of that,” Finn warns. “This is my sister, Branch. Not a
cheerleader or reporter or some chick from a dating app. Got it?”
“Finn,
relax,” I say, shoving a swallow past the lump in my throat. “I appreciate the
big brother spiel, but I can handle myself.”
“I know you
can,” he says, pulling his gaze away from Branch. “But you can’t handle him.”

They were best friends until they became roommates.
Booker Harris has spent the last several years pushing himself to become the best goalkeeper in the Championship League. Tired of living in the shadows of his headline-splashing brothers, he has finally carved a path of his own.
As a child, Poppy McAdams was content in her own little make-believe world, until the boy next door with dimples and pained eyes came barreling into her makeshift fort demanding all her attention.
Best friends for most of their lives, everything changes when Poppy abruptly leaves London for University.
Now she is back, and gone is the awkward girl from Booker's youth. She has been replaced by a stunning woman with secrets.
Secrets that Booker is desperate to know.
Sharing a bedroom wall with your best friend from childhood quickly turns to anything but sweet and innocent.
Amy Daws has such a way with words, and I always soak them up like a sponge. Her Harris brothers books always leave me with a huge smile on my face, and I fall so deeply in love with each new book she produces. Booker Harris has taken the number one spot in my heart, and Poppy made me develop a massive girl crush. I love this friends to lovers story so much, and the journey we were taken on brought out all the feels. I cried more in this book than I had in Tanner and Cam's books, but I of course laughed too. These 2 broken souls are perfect for each other, if only the can get past their fears and insecurities to realize it! Now I sit here, anxiously awaiting more from this spectacular author, knowing that her words will always be a balm on my soul, no matter what craziness is going on in real life.

This is the third book in the Harris Brothers series, by Amy Daws. While it is the third book in the series, you don’t have to read the earlier books, but to fully understand the Harris family I would highly recommend that you read the others in the series and start with Vi’s story where the Harris family is first introduced.
While we have met Booker (the baby of the family) before this series, you will be able to understand the story plot if you just read this book. Booker isn’t like his older brothers especially the twins that we get to really know in the earlier books in the series. Booker has always lived in the shadows of his brothers; especially when it came to football (soccer), which is a must in the Harris family. He finally found his place on the field and strives to be the best goalkeeper possible. Being a keeper is what he does best even off the field. The family has an interesting bound around football.
I wasn’t sure how much I really like Poppy who is Booker’s best friend since childhood, but she hurt him when she left town. Her introduction was a bit comical which the author is great at doing. The struggles Booker is now dealing with as Poppy has come back into his life after six years will have you not being able to put this book down.
You would think while reading this author's books that she was actually from London. She knows the lingo well and you will easily get lost in her words right from the start. Of course, there is a gamete of emotions you will experience. I was somewhat disappointed in the fact that the author felt the need to reference another book to help describe a situation because she is such a talented writer she didn’t need to have that reference, but I’m not letting it take away from my rating, because even though I was disappointed it did feel like she was keeping the characters real. Then again, who doesn’t refer to a tv show, movie, or another book to say "you know in such and such, when so and so did that, well that is like what so and so did" as an explanation? Keeping the characters real is something this author is excellent at. They may have some interesting adventures, both good and bad, but all are things you can see happening to them. I look forward to reading Garth’s story.
EXCERPT
Locking secret eyes with Belle, I quickly unwrap my purple ice treat and pop it in my mouth. I lean across the counter so I’m only a foot away from Booker, who’s now watching my lips. “So, Booker”—I suck hard and then take a nibble, my tongue swiping out to catch the syrupy liquid on my lips—“Do you know anyone who might be good for me?”
“Good for you for what?” Booker asks, his face devoid of any humour as he stares at my mouth with heat in his eyes.
“For a date. I thought maybe a teammate of yours might be good because they are familiar with Tower Park. They could show me around the stadium after the wedding. Give me a tour.” I wink.
His face turns red. “You’re not taking one of my fucking teammates to my brother’s wedding.”
“Why not?” I ask innocently and then plunge the lolly back in my mouth, going deeper this time.
He frowns as he watches my lips. “Because if you want a bloody tour of Tower Park, I can give you one.”
Rolling my eyes, I reply, “Fine, he doesn’t have to give me a tour. But I’m out of touch with people since I left, and you have a gaggle of teammates, Book. Surely you know someone who wouldn’t hate to spend the evening with me.”
“Roan DeWalt would be fun for her!” Vi interjects, snapping everyone’s attention to her as she whisks something in a bowl.
Tanner pipes up next. “Over my dead body he’s coming to my wedding. I’ve finally stopped wishing dismemberment on the prat.”
“It was only a suggestion!” Vi peals, looking perplexed. “It’s just that I set him up with our cousin Alice and she loved him! Roan is a South African dreamboat.” She waggles her eyebrows at me and I can’t help but smile.
Suddenly, Booker stands, his stool screeching on the marble floor as he pushes it away. “Not Roan. Not any Bethnal players. None of them would work. You’re not their type.”
I hear Vi suck in a breath of air, and my cheeks heat with embarrassment. “Why not?” My jaw is tight with anger as my ice lolly drips, forgotten between my two fingers.
His fists clench on the counter. “Because I know you, Poppy. You’re not the kind of girl they’d go for.”
The way he’s acting gets right up my nose. I wanted to make him jealous, but that’s not what’s happening. He’s insinuating I’m not good enough for his mates, as if they’d never go for anyone like me. He doesn’t even know me as an adult. He’s pigeonholing me into the Poppy he thought he used to know. It’s complete and utter shit! “If you actually think I’m not good enough for your team—”
“They’re not good enough for you!” he shouts, interrupting me as he leans over the counter to get in my face. Booker eyes me hard, clearly not amused by my request. “No teammates, Pop. Not Roan. Not anyone. Got it?” His shoulders rise and fall as he pins me with the most aggressive face I’ve ever seen on him.
I can tell the moment he snaps out of it because his neck turns red and he looks around at his family, who are all staring at us with their mouths open. He shoves two hands through his hair as he turns on his heel and strides out the back door and into the garden.
It’s quiet in the kitchen as everyone sits there gobsmacked.
“Wrong button,” Tanner quips and Belle elbows him in the ribs. I turn my red face to look at her and she nods with reassurance.
“I hope you girls know what you’re doing,” Vi says. Then she wipes her hands off and tosses the tea towel in front of me as she scurries out after Booker.
