Who knew? “Here,” she said with a nervous voice, and extended my camera toward me. “Take it and give me my book.” “No way, this is too good.” Cassie’s glare turned into a wide-eyed look of horror. “Ethan pushed my body over the edge of his expansive desk, forcing papers to fly to the floor. Heat pooled between my legs, wetness coated my panties as my boss shoved my skirt up to my waist. With gentle force, he grabbed my wrists in his hand before the cool metal of cuffs bound my arms together.” I glanced up, and Cassie’s face was beet red, but I continued. “The thought of getting caught by another employee should have scared me, but instead, it thrilled me. I knew of Ethan’s history, his love of BDSM, and if that’s the way he wanted me, then that’s what I would give him. His deep voice rumbled, ‘I’m going to fuck you like you’ve never been fucked. This is the first book I have read by this author; as well as, the first time listening to the male narrator.  It is not my first with the female narrator. This was an emotional story and not the easiest to listen to because of this.  The narrators did such a wonderful job bringing this story to life. I found there were times when I did need to take a break from listening, yet I didn’t want to stop because I needed to know how the story was going to end.  
Alyssa and Derek suffered a tragic loss and how they each dealt with the loss was different.  There marriage suffered because of this loss and even though personally I haven’t suffered that particular loss there were several elements of this story that I was able to relate with.  This was a roller coaster of emotions for me, while listening to this story.

Both of these characters are strong, yet weak and I loved how the author was able to show that and the narrators were able to voice these emotions from the laughs, tears, sorrow, and even the steamy scenes.  They were easy to understand especially with changing their voices with different characters. The duet narrations was an added plus for this listener, making the narrator's' voice appear in each chapter. It made it feel more like I was listening to a play.  I am looking forward to more from this author as well as these narrators.

  1. Fun! It’s so much fun to hear my written word come to life. I get so antsy waiting to hear the chapters as Noah and Erin get them recorded.

  1. Sexy – Let’s be honest here, this is a sexy book! Listening to it takes it to a new level. Audible didn’t make the “skip to the good parts” feature for nothing!
 
  1. Emotional story – Alyssa and Derek’s story is an emotional journey. You may have to grab a tissue or two (though I promise the HEA). There’s something about hearing the emotions acted out by Noah and Erin that makes the story really gripping.
 
  1. Growth as an author – Putting my books in audio has given me the opportunity to grow as an author. Part of that is expanding my reach to different readers/listeners, but a larger part is growing my actual writing. I now spend time thinking about how the books will sound as well as how they’ll read while I’m writing.
 
  1. Duet – I love duet narration, which is when the female narrator reads all female parts in each chapter regardless POV and vice versa with the male narrator. I think it makes conversation flow so well and feels like listening to a movie or play. Erin and Noah are lucky enough to be able to record together and their duet narrations are wonderful!
 
  1. Have you ever listened to anything by Noah and Erin before? If you then you know that they are just plain fantastic together. They play off each other so well and make the story come to life in a way that is very different but no less captivating than reading. Neither of them is ever just reading the book, they are acting out the story taking it to another level! They give good aural, as they say in the world of steamy audiobooks.
 
  1. Love giving the option of reading/listening – Audiobook lovers are popping up all over the place these days. For me, it’s a no-brainer to put my books in audio format. There are so many readers/listeners who like to switch between the written book and audiobook. Of course I’m going to give them what they want!
 
  1. Allows me to give my stories to people who don’t/can’t read traditionally – I’m obsessed with reading. To me, there is nothing better than getting lost in an author’s fictional world. There are many people who, for various reasons, aren’t able to read a traditional book. Be it time constraints, dyslexia, vision impairments, or any other host of reasons, no one should be denied the ability to dive into fiction for a while.

I have been trying to write this review for several days now and I
just can’t seem to find the right words to describe this incredible
story of Hazel's journey to discover herself in the most unexpected
way and when she rescues a puppy to be named Atticus the journey gets
even more epic.
I knew this book was going to be different from what the author
typically writes, but she so did not disappoint.  There is so much
packed into this book. You will be struggling right along with Hazel,
cheering her on, crying with her and falling in love with Atticus.  I
loved how the author had many chapters told from Atticus’s point of
view. It just added to this beautifully written story. I am looking
forward to reading more from this author.

This was the first book I have read by this author and the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator.  I wasn’t really sure what to fully expect from this book based on the synopsis, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Jessica is a wonderful main female character.  She works hard doing what she needs to, to support her family.  I love the interactions of her family and how they are there for each other yet causing each other many fun family angst.  It was great to read.
It was also a story that developed; we got to know the characters.  There were times, I didn’t want to turn the book off, wondering what was going to be happening next.

The narrator did a good job in changing up her voice for the various characters making it easier to follow along.  There were a few moments that the story got a bit confusing, for this listener and that is why I’m unable to give it a full five stars.
  • Was a possible audiobook recording something you were conscious of while writing?
    • Not at all. I think every writer’s dream is to see the book on a bookshelf, but the opportunity came and I couldn’t let it pass. It meant giving life to my story, it’s amazing.
  • How did you select your narrator?
    • I chose someone that could represent Jessie, and that could handle different authors, a voice that sounded fresh and full with energy, just like my character.
  • Were there any real life inspirations behind your writing?
    • Definitely! I love cooking and I might have had a slight crush on Jamie Oliver for half of my life, so writing about a girl attending a school for delinquents while describing cooking scenes and falling in love with her teacher, was a must for me.
  • Are you an audiobook listener? What about the audiobook format appeals to you?
    • I am now! I love hearing the character’s emotions through the narrator voice, you can picture them in your head alive. For me, it has been incredible. Mostly, I enjoy the whole production ones, like Pride and Prejudice from audible, where there are several voices and different noises on the background.
  • Is there a particular part of this story that you feel is more resonating in the audiobook performance than in the book format?
    • I can listen to the first chapter over and over, those first lines, read by Rachel, portraying Jessie’s emotions always make me emotional. I love how she represents Jessie as she’s excited and nervous about meeting her TV Idol.
  • If you had the power to time travel, would you use it? If yes, when and where would you go?
    • I’d like to go to the past, and meet with family members that I’ve lost during my lifetime. People that I would have loved to share my books with. Like, my mom. It would mean the world for her to read my stories or hear my audiobook.
  • How did you celebrate after finishing this novel?
    • I took a writing break and celebrated for days with different family members and friends.
  • What gets you out of a writing slump? What about a reading slump?
    • A break is always needed if you’re stressed or feel like you can’t go on. Taking a walk, watching a movie, anything different than what you were doing can help you return with a clear head. I’ve also heard that doing chores helps, but I rather watch a movie ;)
  • What bits of advice would you give to aspiring authors?
    • Write for yourself, always. You have to fall in love with your characters and the story they’re creating, write what you’d love to read, something you’re passionate about. Even if it isn’t something that everyone would like, the first person you need to impress is yourself. The rest will come later.
  • What’s next for you?
    • Right now, we’re under the process of adapting my stories into video games. I have one story, Prince with Benefits that is now a game in the Chapters app (available on iOS and Google Play Android) and will be an audiobook soon as well, and the rest of the series will be produced in the future as well. So right now, it’s all about video games and audiobooks for me, and I’ve never been so excited!
