There’s danger that neither of them can escape.

Reclusive author, Xanthe Malcolm, likes her private and quiet life. Upon meeting, the chemistry between the quirky writer and arrogant model quickly intensifies, creating a steamy page-turner of events made for romance novels.

Then comes the plot twist.

Xanthe has secrets that have kept her bound to silence.

And the truth has Oliver questioning every unspoken word.

REVIEWS

We're doing another dual review, since neither Anita nor I could resist this book!

"You look into my soul every day, Xanthe," I told her, taking one of her hands and bringing it to my lips. "It's yours. I think it always has been."

Nothing could summarize this book better than that. When we first meet Oliver Fairfax, he's a bit of a dick. Like Xanthe, I warred with whether he was perfect or the biggest asshole I'd ever met. But nothing sucks me into a story more than redemption and growth in a character, and Ollie truly turns everything around. Not only is he worthy of Xanthe, he elevates her, lifts her to emotional heights she had refused to climb before him. It's nothing short of another epic love story from Kelli Jean.

Lest  you think that's all there is to this story (trust me, that alone is enough), there is another element at work here. Xanthe, Rex, Jaime, Ricki, Ronen, Lilla, and Aunt Ellen are all involved in something much bigger than them. This story launches that larger picture mostly from the perspective of Ollie, which is to say, the reader knows very little for most of the course of the narrative. And I believe that's effective here, so I won't tell you the details, other than to say that there is more. Much more.

What I will say is this: you will laugh, you may cry, you will swoon, and you will love every moment. I wish I'd had more time to just sit and devour this book. Every damn thing kept jumping into my way when I wanted to read non-stop. I will be sure to leave space in my schedule to inhale the rest of this series. I know I'll want to do that, because we have just hit the tip of the iceberg here. In the meantime, I will suggest that you 1-click this as fast as your fingers will allow. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

This freaking book!! I'm not so articulate as Patti is so I'm gonna just fangirl all over Oliver while she says in nice words why he is the best book boyfriend I have read THIS YEAR!!

I mean, besides having a new found love of beards, which Ollie of course has, he's incredible. He made mistakes but he realized them. Maybe sometimes it took him a while, or a few miles but he made amends. I liked him for it. And for his beard! Lol

Xanthe is insecure - secure - fighting woman. She is the most layered person I have ever met. She is strong, but sensitive. She is crazy, yet very sane. She's a great friend and simply an amazing person. She was a lot of fun to get to know.

Kelli, you did an amazing job with this book. I enjoyed it very much and cannot wait to read more of your work. For a first book I have ever read from you, this is a hit. You got yourself another fan!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born and raised in Miami, Kelli Jean traded the tropical heat for the arctic. Now she deals with twenty-four hour daylight in the summer, zero sunlight in the winter, and believes the Northern Lights make up for the mind-boggling amount of ice and snow she has to put up with for seven months out of the year.

She's surrounded by mountains and ocean and sheep, and claims her bizarre sense of humor is what keeps her sane. The insane don't know they're insane.

Kelli uses her imagination to create worlds she can escape to from the mundane tasks of everyday life, such as washing the damn dishes and vacuuming up Legos off the floor--and don't get her started on the mad amount of cat hair on the end of the couch. She gave up on that a long time ago. When the household goes to sleep at night, she writes down everything that happened in her head while doing such tedious chores. But she enjoys living in her own head, so that's pretty cool.

Technology terrifies her. She can barely turn on a computer, and was completely shocked when she'd actually written a book on one. To this day, she has no explanation for this baffling mystery. It took her three years to realize she can take screen shots of messages and pictures of bearded, tattooed men with her phone. Now that she's mastered this task, her phone is slowly dying, and she's nervous that she's going to have to buy a new one and it will take her another three years to learn how to use it.
