Author: Anthony Wilson
Genre: Young Adult  Action Sci Fi

Synopsis:

Jahlil Adams is just a regular teenager. In fact, you could say that he is “super regular” with his glasses, comic books, and cheap fashion sense. He doesn’t want popularity. He doesn’t want a pretty girlfriend. He wants to just be who he is. Well that and not to be bullied by Max Maniac.

Yet, everything changes once Mr. Malachi gave Jahlil a necklace that he didn’t even want.
After that, everything was not the same. In fact, Jahlil began to realize that there was much more to who he was. There was much more to who Mr. Malachi was. There was much more to his existence. The lid of limitations was lifted from Jahlil’s life.
Now, all that mattered was the limitations that the sky had to offer.

This is an excellent story for those who have been bullied.  I was a bullied child and wished I had this book to read when I was in school.  The plot is smoothly written.  It is suspenseful and adventurous and touching.  It had me guessing who is really a threat to Jahlil.  It is a book filled with relatable and loveable characters.  Jahlil is a wonderful character, who tells the tale of his high school life and beyond.  The sky is truly the limit for this young man's future.  I love that the author uses words and idioms that a high school child might use and some that were probably because he spoke more to his mom than his classmates which made it so much more real to me.  I can see this book becoming a must read in schools.  It is a book I would recommend to young readers on a fourth grade to adult reading level.  Sometimes it is hard to find books that can be written for younger readers but relatable to older children.   It is a page turner for reluctant readers.  This is a great book for all those reads.   I will look for this author's books to read again. I will recommend this to my family and friends with young readers.   I have become a fan.

REVIEW
[Flora]

This series is a wonderful story for readers who love romance and mythology.  This is the second book in the Land of the Gods series.  It is a book with action, revenge, injustice, strong female characters and exploring the mindset of immorals and death.  It was a fast read with that cant put it down feeling.  While this book and each book in the series can be read as a stand alone book, it is the continuity of each book in the series that has this world developing wonderfully.  The first story was about the star crossed lovers, Hades and Persephone, who are a big help in carrying on this story line.  The authors have a talent for getting into the mindset of these immortal beings and their interaction with humans.
In this tale revenge for an injustice most horrible, the strength of one extraordinary warrior, who confronts the gods who use humans as pawns, play things and pets.  It is because of this that Gaea, Warrior Princess, ends up in a new path. It is the gods who have a hard time understanding the filting life and passion of humans with their love for their family, kingdom and justice.   The story is filled with sadness and anger and devotion and change.  I am hoping that the continued series means more facets of this world are revealed.

REVIEW:
[Flora]

The authors did an excellent job.  This reader really thinks that they did a lot of research for this series.  I mean to know what kind of flowers and colors are associated with each of the gods and goddesses is more than this reader's school taught.  They didn't bring a bunch of gods into the story to confuse the story, but they did add just enough main characters and a few supporting characters.  They developed their backstory enough to make the story flow, but not everything, so this reader wants to read the rest of the books in this series.
I like that it was not the same old, same old that these characters were more modern political and  social problems.  They speak of the ancient gods which helps in the developing storyline.  The descriptions of the locations are so descriptive this reader could see it.  There's a growing mystery that needs to be solved to save the world and the lives of humans and the gods and goddesses.  There is not explicit sexual language or cursing, but adult situations are involved. The whole story is not long and drawn-out and the backgrounds of each person are explained as the story unfolds and flows seamlessly.  I had no idea that two different authors wrote this.  This reader will need to read the rest of this series to see how the whole thing turns out.
